Gastrointestinal (GI) Conditions

The GI tract progresses from the mouth all the way down to the anus and transverses over 20 feet of lumen.  It is a river that flows through all of us, it nourishes us, protects us from the environment, and used to dump waste.  It includes the pancreas, which pours digestive enzymes and neutralizes stomach acid; the liver, which makes bile that digests fat; the gallbladder, which stores bile; and the brain, which receives signals from the gut and can often get the wrong message.

The case studies described are fictitious examples of common medical conditions that present to our office.  Careful attention has been paid to avoid and protect all real patient information.

Nutrients are the building blocks of your body.  For example, each and every cell requires a lipid membrane to protect it, which is made from the fat you eat.  Disease occurs when cellular mechanisms break down, but it can also occur when the nutrients used to build cells in our body are of poor quality.  We believe that nutrition is an extremely important ingredient in understanding and treating many non-GI conditions.
